Vision
The plans include 5.9 acres of public realm both at ground level and as part of the proposed park on top of the historic Braithwaite Viaduct. This will include a mix of imaginative landscaped spaces, as well as cafés, restaurants and a hotel, introducing active elements to the extended ‘highline’-style walkway.

An evolving vision

Previous masterplans proposed a much taller, larger development. Our vision for the Goodsyard caters for a rich variety of uses in smaller, lower buildings, making the most of this constrained site without compromising natural light and city views for neighbouring buildings.

The proposal includes cultural spaces, workspaces, homes, vibrant communal areas and one of central London’s largest new parks. A variety of formats of work and retail spaces are included to meet the needs of both large business and small independent traders. In line with the requirements of local councils and residents, 7.5% of the workspaces and 50% of the 500 homes will be affordable.

Celebrating heritage
The currently derelict and inaccessible Bishopsgate Goodsyard is made up of characterful, listed structures dating back to 1860. Most of these features have been hidden from the public since the Goodsyard closed almost 60 years ago.

Our masterplan celebrates the site’s history by retaining features such as the Oriel Gateway, the Boundary Wall and the Braithwaite Arches. It introduces new east-west and north-south streets that weave through these landmarks, linking Shoreditch High Street with the iconic Brick Lane.

“Our vision for the future of Goodsyard transcends generations, celebrates and reuses heritage and creates a mixed-use environment with a truly unique identity. In the context of a post-Covid recovery, it has never been more important that we plan to create balanced neighbourhoods that will better promote health, wellbeing and a sustainable future.”
