Over 65 years’ experience
FaulknerBrowns was established in 1962 with a pioneering spirit that still shapes the way we work. Our studio in the North East reflects where we have come from and how we continue to evolve: curious, connected and committed to reimagining the human experience through architecture.
For over six decades, teams based here have explored new approaches to designing buildings and places of enduring quality – projects that adapt to change, foster belonging and act as catalysts for long‑lasting communities. This history underscores a culture that values process as much as outcome, and innovation grounded in knowledge, craft and care.

A collaborative studio culture
The Newcastle studio works across culture, education, sport, leisure, commercial and mixed‑use sectors, often at the intersection of these typologies. Every project is developed through open and inquisitive processes that prioritise collaboration – within the studio, across the practice and with our clients and partners.
As one of four studios, Newcastle is connected to Dublin, Vancouver and Dubai, exchanging expertise, research and ambition across generations, geographies and disciplines.
Embedded locally, connected globally
Our roots in the North East continue to shape how we engage with place. Long‑standing relationships with local authorities, institutions, universities and delivery partners help create architecture that is grounded in context and meaningful to the people who use it.
We are proud to have contributed to Newcastle’s ongoing story through masterplans and significant projects that support its transformation. By reshaping cultural and commercial destinations and creating inclusive public spaces, we aim to foster regeneration and help the city remain a place where people and talent thrive.
At the same time, the studio is a platform for national and international work, combining local knowledge with a global perspective to deliver projects of scale and complexity.
