Work has started on the Sport Ireland National Cricket Centre in Dublin, marking a significant step towards creating a permanent home for cricket in Ireland.
The project, granted final planning permission for phase one in November, forms a key part of the wider Sport Ireland Campus masterplan; an evolving national destination for sport, community and high-performance excellence.
Designed in collaboration with Sport Ireland and Cricket Ireland, the new centre will support international match play alongside year-round training, creating a permanent, world-class base for the sport at every level, from elite competition to grassroots participation.
The first phase will deliver an international-standard field of play with seating for 4,240 spectators, a high-performance centre, and dedicated player and match official facilities, alongside supporting infrastructure and parking.
Responding to the rapid growth of cricket in Ireland and the country’s role as co-host of the 2030 Men’s T20 World Cup, the project represents a significant investment in sporting infrastructure at a national scale.
