We are extremely pleased and honoured to have received the prestigious title of Sports & Leisure Architect of the Year at the Building Design Architect of the Year Awards 2017.

Now in its 14th edition, the awards honour architectural achievement across a number of specific sectors including sports and leisure.

The judging panel recognised our continued contribution to this building typology, including the multi-award winning Hebburn Central community sport and leisure facility, and Angers Patinoire ice skating arena.

Michael Hall, Partner at FaulknerBrowns commented on this fantastic achievement, saying: “Sport and leisure centres fulfil vital social and wellbeing functions in the heart of our local communities, reflecting the changing needs of society and how we choose to spend our leisure time.

“We continue to drive the evolution of the building typology to ensure maximum impact, not just today, but in the future and it is fantastic that this approach has been recognised with this esteemed title, we’re thrilled!

“It is pleasing to see that the high architectural quality of our buildings and the social benefit this achieves is being recognised by our peers.”

Although this is a great accolade for the practice, we recognise that this achievement could not have been made without the vision of our clients, and the commitment and dedication of the contractors, engineers, consultants and suppliers involved in all of our projects. We thank them all for their hard work and close collaboration.
