We are always looking out for new talent to join our passionate, experienced team. We need imaginative and enthusiastic people who have an unkindled devotion for architecture.

The Studios

We enjoy a vibrant studio culture founded on a friendly, hardworking approach. Our studios in Newcastle and Vancouver are shaped to support collaboration and the respect we have for different techniques of creating architecture. We are proud of the diversity of our team, which includes skilled technicians, artists, photographers, interior designers, graphic designers, and architects at all levels in their careers.

We also have a long history of model-making and hand-drawing, and our focus on creative expression is reflected in our spaces. Our Newcastle studio has evolved with us constantly to support our design process and includes an in-house model workshop, while our Vancouver studio is based on Granville Island at the heart of the city’s creative community.

The People

At FaulknerBrowns we want to support your development throughout your career journey. We have an established mentoring and training programme that helps our team to excel, both in practice and academically, and we encourage our staff to take an active role in professional groups and the wider industry.

Our studios are sociable and inclusive. We offer flexible working arrangements and a four-and-a-half-day week, and our team includes wellbeing advocates to foster a healthy and supportive environment for everyone. We organise regular social events, from cycle rides to exhibitions and international study trips, to make sure we enjoy time outside of the studio, as well as in it.

We also provide financial support for staff who wish to explore further academic study or qualifications and we support several apprenticeship schemes, such as PlanBEE, to inspire the next generation of creative talent to find their place and contribute to our work.

Newcastle

Newcastle upon Tyne is bursting with cultural output, in everything from art to brewing. With two of the country’s premier schools of architecture, there is an abundance of architectural events, lectures, and exhibitions available to the public. The city itself rests on layers of visible architecture, from Roman and medieval, to Victorian and brutalist. It is also easy to venture out of the city and experience the breath-taking unspoiled nature of Northumberland’s moorland and coastline.

Vancouver

Vancouver is a collision and resulting coexistence of the natural and the handmade. Contemporary architecture forms an integral relationship with the mountains and pacific that envelope the cultural capitol. Our studio is located in one of the most densely populated areas of downtown, and boasts easy access to all the city has to offer, from parks, dining, culture, and true wilderness a stone’s throw away.
