Sportcampus Zuiderpark honoured at WAF
In our third consecutive visit to the annual World Architecture Festival, Sportcampus Zuiderpark has narrowly missed out on being named the world’s best completed sports building 2018, receiving the category’s only Highly Commended accolade. The innovative sports campus which is located in The Hague, the Netherlands, was also shortlisted in the festival’s special ‘Use of Colour' prize.
Each year the World Architecture Festival brings together practices from around the world to present to a panel of esteemed judges the most innovative and exciting building projects across 32 categories. This year saw entrants from 57 different countries battling out over three days for the title of world building of the year.
Sportcampus Zuiderpark provides The Hague and communities around the Zuiderpark, the opportunity to train and develop talent, as well as create positive momentum for movement and sport. The overriding aim is to emphasize the importance of sport and exercise through learning and engagement, for the amateur as well as the elite athlete, using sport as the inspiration to deliver a healthier community and society.
Last month the sports campus was named a 2019 Civic Trust Awards Regional Finalist and the building is now in the running to receive an International Civic Trust Award.
