Generation 4 Change Awards success
Our three nominees for the Generation 4 Change (G4C) North East Awards 2017 enjoyed a fantastic evening with their industry peers, Nathalie Baxter receiving the acclaimed award for ‘New Professional of the Year’.
Rosie Johnson and Nick Heyward had been shortlisted in the ‘Higher Education Student of the Year’ and ‘Young Achiever’ categories respectively, and were unfortunate to miss out on an award against stiff competition.
G4C is part of Constructing Excellence and seeks to be a driving force for change in the built environment sector by connecting and developing future industry leaders. The awards recognise the efforts of those in the early stages of their career that demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional development.
Nathalie graduated from Newcastle University with distinction, winning the RIBA NE Hadrian Medal and HB Saint William Bell Memorial Award. Following this, she successfully completed her RIBA Part 3 in 2016 and was awarded the Best Graduating Student prize. Nathalie sits on the RIBA North East Regional Council as the Recently Qualified Architect Representative and is Chair of the Young Architectural Practitioners Forum.
Rosie is set to graduate from Northumbria University in the summer with a degree in Architectural Technology. She is Chair of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists Northern Region aspirATion Group which is targeted at students and recent architectural technology graduates to raise awareness of the institute, the discipline and the position it holds in the industry.
Nick graduated from Newcastle University with a first class degree in Architecture and gained his professional qualification in 2012. Nick has recently delivered his first award winning building, ‘The Word, National Centre for the Written Word’ in South Shields, which has been met with critical acclaim. Nick is Vice Chair of Generation 4 Change (G4C) in the North East having previously held the position of Chair.
Nathalie Baxter, commented on her award win saying: “Winning New Professional of the Year from a strong shortlist of talented construction industry professionals is a great personal accolade. It is also testament to the continued commitment of FaulknerBrowns to support, develop and promote young talent. The G4C awards are a great celebration of young, regional talent, and collaboration across the construction sector, to which I am proud to be associated.”
Nicholas Deeming, Partner at FaulknerBrowns, commented on their achievements saying: “The G4C awards provide an opportunity to switch the focus away from projects and output, and towards the talented young professionals that are committed to driving our industry forward. It is a well-deserved achievement for all three of our nominees to be shortlisted and for Nathalie to triumph in her category was excellent. On this evidence, the future of our industry is in very safe hands indeed.”
