Construction Snapshot 2020
Over the last few months, we have enjoyed a smooth transition from studio-based working to home working and gradually back again, with many of our teams now returning to our Newcastle and Vancouver studios.
During this time, contractors on our project sites around the UK have done an incredible job in maintaining progress with additional safety measures in place. As a result, we have many exciting schemes rapidly heading towards completion.
Large Projects Currently Under Construction
Here we preview some of the most recently photographed:
Hadrian’s Tower for High Street Group challenges the existing pattern of city centre housing development in Newcastle upon Tyne. Comprised of 150 high quality apartments for the private rental sector (PRS), the scheme integrates contemporary architecture into the city’s famous central conservation area.
Our new £42m City Hall scheme for Sunderland City Council represents the next phase of the Riverside Sunderland masterplan to regenerate a prominent 5.5ha site to the north west of the city centre. Visual connections and interaction between occupants and building users is promoted through the openness and transparency of the interior spaces in this truly civic building.
Eskdale Terrace is a 63-home later living development for PegasusLife located in the heart of two major conservation areas in the fashionable residential suburb of Jesmond. Responding directly to the historic context and challenging site constraints, Eskdale Terrace extends the neighbourhood’s architectural vernacular heritage and legacy for future generations.
Britannia Leisure Centre for Hackney Council is a prominent city centre leisure scheme. A stacked solution allows an ambitious and varied programme of facilities to be brought together efficiently on a compact footprint within a wider residential masterplan. We have pushed the most dynamic spaces to the perimeter of the building creating a layered composition of activity, promoting participation.
