RIBA North East Awards
Lower Mountjoy Teaching and Learning Centre has won a prestigious RIBA North East award.
The project is part of our wider masterplan for Durham University and was recognised for the inspiring and future-proofed teaching and learning spaces it provides, within a volume that responds to its UNESCO world heritage site setting.
The judges said ‘This is a highly accomplished building - restrained and sophisticated whilst also providing a welcoming environment and flexibility of use in a changing world of education. It is an outstanding addition to the university and the city.’
The award qualifies the project for the RIBA National Awards, to be announced in September. Congratulations to the project team.
