FaulknerBrowns wins AJ's Architect of the Year
We are delighted to share that FaulknerBrowns has been named Architect of the Year at the AJ Architecture Awards. Organised by the Architects' Journal, the awards celebrate the very best projects and practices across the UK.
City Hall, our recently completed project in the Riverside Sunderland masterplan, won the civic category award. The judges praised its 'open, uplifting, moving and intuitive' design. The project combines both public and private uses, and the judges were impressed by the forward thinking approach of our client, Sunderland City Council, saying ‘it does everything right.'
Britannia Leisure Centre, designed for Hackney Council in London, was also highly commended for its community impact, and contributed to the AJ judges selecting FaulknerBrowns for the Architect of the Year prize. The judges said
'FaulknerBrowns Architects has seriously impressed the judges and the AJ editorial team with its community-orientated architecture and successful public sector partnerships. It has created a diverse portfolio of work and won praise for its efforts towards driving down whole-life carbon.'
We are so pleased to see the hard work of our teams recognised and would like to congratulate all of the award winners!
