Albion Square proposals revealed

Albion Square Redevelopment Plans Revealed Hull Faulknerbrowns Architects Lh

Our proposals for a mixed-use development and urban park in Hull city centre have been revealed this week. The project for Hull City Council will bring new homes, offices and retail space to Albion Square, and will use the concept of 'rewilding' to create a natural green space for residents and local people, designed by landscape architects Gillespies.

The development also includes the city's iconic Three Ships Mural by Alan Boyson, incorporated into the new buildings facing Albion Square. On Albion Street, new housing will sensitively compliment the existing Georgian terraces.

“Albion Square will bring new activity and life to Hull city centre and provide the type of green space that is essential to sustainable, post-covid cities.

Our design focuses on repairing the urban grain of this part of the city, by re-instating historic streetscapes and framing an important piece of public art. The new buildings are all centred around the urban park, allowing both residents and the wider city to enjoy accessible, natural green space.”

- Niall Durney, associate partner

The proposals will be presented to Hull City Council’s planning committee for final approval in early 2022.
