Riga Waterfront project launches
A masterplan for Riga Waterfront, on the Andrejsala Peninsula in the Latvian capital, has been launched by Eagle Hills. The proposed development is situated on a former industrial port along the Daugava River and would create 8,000 homes in a series of new urban quarters.
We have worked in collaboration with Hosoya Schaefer Architects from Switzerland and Latvian practice Vilnus Mičulis to bring forward the power station quarter as part of the wider masterplan. Design proposals for the surrounding district have been driven by creating a characterful, pedestrian focused neighbourhood, reflecting the eclectic variation of Riga’s architecture and providing a renewed second life for this important part of the city.
The masterplan connects the industrial heritage of the waterfront with Riga’s charming Historic Centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Alongside new homes, the plans include a mix of retail, hospitality and entertainment uses, a cruise terminal, cultural assets, schools, community spaces and green public realm.
