Design Practice of the Year

Janet Nash House Cef Durham Mixology Award Practice Receiving Prize Lh

We are delighted to have won two prestigious accolades at the 2018 Mixology North Awards for Medium Commercial Interiors Project of the Year and Design Practice of the Year. The awards celebrated this year’s cohort of innovative and aspirational projects from across the interior design industry.

The first of the awards was granted to Janet Nash House, the new European IT Headquarters for global electrical wholesale company City Electrical Factors (CEF). The scheme consolidates all of CEF’s IT departments into one location, providing opportunities to innovate and collaborate across the business both physically and digitally. The project was achieved through a seamless integration of architectural and interior design concepts. Over twenty bespoke workplace breakout solutions were developed to provide a rich and diverse office landscape tailored to the specific requirements of each department. Biophilic and active design principles were adopted to enhance the well-being of employees and encourage a healthy lifestyle for all.

Having announced the project as this year’s winner, Marcio Incarico, Managing Director at Mix Group said: “CEF is spatially uplifting - it's big and it's bold. This particularly clever scheme is miles above others and demonstrates real skill.”

The celebrations continued as the last award of the night was announced, this recognised the practice’s overall achievements and contributions to interior design in the past year.

On this accolade, Incarico commented: “FaulknerBrowns keep finding a way to renew themselves. To be able to sustain what they are doing – year on year – is quite remarkable. And what energy the firm continues to show!’

Our Head of Interior Design, Steve Dickson, spoke later about the achievement saying: “We are delighted to pick up two prizes at the Mixology Awards this year, especially Design Practice of the Year. It’s a fantastic testament to our team of dedicated and innovative designers. Our design philosophy is always centred on the people who inhabit our environments. Our ambition is to be relevant, timeless and inspirational. This recognition from the judges is a fantastic endorsement of our approach.”
