Cramlington Food Bank Donation
10th to 16th May was National Mental Health Awareness Week, and the practice felt that this was a great opportunity for us all to reconnect and build new relationships by way of a series of themed wellness events. A number of activities were organised during the course of the week, focused around the internationally recognised ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’ topics: connect; be active; take notice; keep learning; and give.
For the ‘give’ theme, a collection was organised for the Cramlington Foodbank, a fantastic charity who provide emergency food and support to the community close to our Newcastle studio. Staff could donate both in the office, and online for those working remotely, with the online monies being used to make a supermarket shop at the end of the week. The combined donations were gratefully received by the foodbank:
“Thank you very much for your generous donation to Cramlington Foodbank. Your recent donation weighed in at a huge 157.55kg and has already gone into parcels provided to local people.
Without donations like yours, it would be impossible for the volunteers here at the Foodbank to provide for the many local people who are in need of such help.”
- Joyce Docherty (Project Manager)
This was a great way to bring people together – not just as part of National Mental Health Awareness Week, but in giving to the local community in times like these, it lifted the spirits of everyone involved. Awareness of the importance of maintaining and supporting good health and wellbeing is growing, and this was a great way for the practice to invest in ourselves whilst helping others.
We look forward to supporting such a worthwhile local cause in the future.
