Community votes in favour of Greater Vernon Active Living Centre

Greater Vernon Active Living Centre Community Vote Faulknerbrowns Architects Lh

The City of Vernon in British Columbia recently voted in favour of our plans for a new $121 million recreation facility.

The new facility, situated between the Rocky Mountains and Okanagan Lake, will include a double gymnasium/sports hall, a fitness centre, indoor walking/running track and multi-purpose activity spaces, alongside a new aquatic centre with a 50m pool; leisure pool, hot tubs, sauna and steam room. The referendum results showed that more than 60% of votes were in favour of borrowing to fund the project.

Our Vancouver studio has been working with the city since 2019 to prepare feasibility proposals for the Active Living Centre and support public engagement. The process of delivering the project will now begin – congratulations to the many team members involved so far.
